I'll come out and say it right now: I eat meat, and I enjoy eating meat. But I'm curious as to why somebody would choose to adopt a vegetarian or vegan diet. Is the decision a political statement, or is it chosen for health concerns? What other reasons might there be? I'm sure that every vegetarian or vegan has their own reasons, and I'm not here to judge or insult anybody. I just want to better understand the logic behind vegetarianism and veganism. I will be conducting research at the PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) website as, with its 2 million+ members, it is the largest animal rights group on the planet. Hopefully, I will be able to get constructive input from meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegans alike. I may also explore related issues such as animal testing and the wearing of fur and leather as time progresses, but now I will simply discuss the eating of meat. Is it moral? Should it be illegal? I don't know, nor do I really care, to be honest. That is not the point. Besides, it's not my place to tell anyone what they should or should not eat. Like I said, I just want to understand why people choose to forego meat-eating.
